“ When Amer greets his guests it becomes all too apparent that along with his dignity and respect to others, he is the embodiment of the world famous Arab hospitality.”

His journey crosses path with every new endeavor Zara embarks on, Amer Fahed, now the F&B Manager at Mövenpick Resort Tala Bay Aqaba, has worked diligently with Zara as it expanded its Hotel portfolio in Jordan.

Amer joined Zara in its first venture into Petra as a waiter at the Mövenpick Resort Petra Hotel where he moved his way up to become a Chef Leader. He later joined Zara in inaugurating the Mövenpick Dead Sea Resort and Spa where he worked for 9 steady years until he became the Assistant F&B Manager, and later was promoted to F&B Manager at Zara’s newest property in Tala Bay Aqaba.

Amer was encouraged to become part of the hospitality industry when he started to hear about the diverse atmosphere at the hotels where people from around the world meet in one place. He saw a lot of encouragement from his peers and his family and decided to take leap towards a new life and career.

As Amer looks back at the years when he first started working in the hospitality field, he sees many challenges in dealing with people from different cultures and backgrounds, but feels lucky to be working with a company which invested in his career and grateful for the people he met along the way who taught him how to become skilled in his field. He specifically mentions Mr. Barak, a French F&B Director, who was distinguished in his managerial skills and was admired by everyone around him.

“When you work in the hospitality and tourism field, it is very hard to make everyone happy because each person has different tastes and needs, this is the challenge I enjoy in my day to day job; to cater the needs of every guest and to make the best of their experience at the hotel.” Says Amer.

Amer portrays hospitality as the art of giving, and compares it to Fairuz who has beauty in her voice and has a fine taste in songs.

“My advice to every person in the tourism and hospitality field is to love their job, be zealous about it and aim to improve.”

“I would like to see every tourist leave Jordan with a good impression about the Jordanian hospitality and feel the security we as Jordanians work so hard to protect.”
