Jordan, 13 August 2017 – Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Jordan partners with Sealed Air and Tkiyet Um Ali for the Soap for Hope program, allowing resorts to give back to the community the basic necessity of sanitation and healthcare.
Mövenpick Dead Sea, Mövenpick Petra, Mövenpick Aqaba and Mövenpick Tala Bay will collect guests’ discarded soaps to undergo a recycling process. They will be cut into smaller chunks, soap cubes will be sanitised to soften, soap mixtures will be pressed into bricks and dried. New soap bars will then be delivered and donated to the poorest of households in the local community.
“We are always happy to reach out and be of any assistance to the local community,” says Michael Nugent, regional director of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts – Jordan. “Through the Soap for Hope programme, we find a meaningful way of reusing leftover soaps in our five properties in an eco-friendly manner whilst giving people the opportunity to live healthy lives.”
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is the first five-star hotel chain in the Kingdom to get into the Soap for Hope programme. “We want to remain the leader not only in terms of market share, but also in initiating community services,” adds Nugent. “We are just very proud that Mövenpick Jordan is the first to embrace Soap for Hope, and we hope other brands will follow our pursuit to make a bigger impact.”
