The beautiful Jacir
Palace Beit Lahem Inter-Continental stands as a tribute to the pioneering
spirit of Sulaiman Jacir, the original owner of this magnificent building. Built
in 1910 by local craftsmen,
the building's
original design was based on the
Louvre whilst retaining many of the characteristics of a Middle Eastern home.
Under the ownership of Palestine Development and Investment Company, in which
Zara is an investor, local craftsmen have once again been employed to restore
the palace to its former glory. Beyond the sweeping staircase of the Grand Entry
Hall, restoration of the building's beautiful frescoes, mosaics and architectural
features is reawakening the spirit of the Age of Travellers, when pilgrims sought
out the hospitality of 'The Jacirs'. Family photographs and historical memorabilia
will adorn the hotel's restored salons, arched courtyards, niche galleries and
two-tower extension. The complementary design of the modern extension will allow
for more visitors to this historic place, by accommodating the hotel's rooms
and other leisure facilities.
