Madaba

Madaba

A small town at the head of the ancient King's Highway, (only 40 minutes from Amman) Madaba is dotted with fantastic mosaics from the Byzantine era, many are located in private homes, discovered when owners dug foundations or gardens.

The most famous mosaic of all is located at St. George's Cathedral, a clearly-labeled mosaic map of Jerusalem and the surrounding areas dated 560 A.D., this has helped archaeologists to identify many other important biblical sites in Jordan.
