InterContinental Jordan, in Cooperation with “Family Kitchen”, are elevating social consciousness by saving untouched and high quality food, left over from weddings and banquets, and distributing it to the less unfortunate.
Through a very thoughtful gesture, HRH Prince Mired bin Ra'ad joined the “Family Kitchen” team during one of their visits to InterContinental Jordan to collect the food. HRH Prince Mired expressed his appreciation to this project & was proud for such a considerate cooperation between the two institutes.
InterContinental Jordan is keen to keep up with this project, as concern for the underprivileged and as a campaign against waste.
About “Family Kitchen”: Ramadan Kitchen, an initiative that began in 2009, collected excess food from fine restaurants during the month of Ramadan—the holy month of fasting--so the poor could enjoy a nice Iftar meal. The program was so successful that by popular demand it has continued serving the community and evolved into “Family Kitchen”, which now distributes food on a daily basis all year round. Family Kitchen works in collaboration with 5-Star hotels and restaurants and is managed and run by Jordanian volunteers.
