Deep in the heart of the newly opened 5-star Mövenpick Resort Tala Bay Aqaba is a unique team of employees. The high-performance team of this Mövenpick Resort is made up of employees from around the globe – currently 18 nationalities. General Manager, Hubert Klemenz, aims to develop a world-class group of employees through valuing and appreciating diversity.

“We are concentrating on the need to balance cultural values and practices, while also maximising cultural synergy in this environment,” says Hubert Klemenz. “It is a challenge presented to management when building multinational teams especially in the current climate, but it is a challenge that makes us successful.”

Through valuing diversity, promoting an understanding of different cultures and appreciating individual personalities, Klemenz aims to achieve top quality, and value-added personalized service to all guests. Presently, the team is balanced with 60% Jordanians and 40% Foreigners from countries such as Australia, Malta, Egypt, England, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Myanmar, Ukraine, Russia, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Switzerland, Tunisia and Nepal.

As part of the company’s social responsibilities, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has partnered with the Child Welfare Scheme in Nepal to assist in a programme that takes children from impoverished backgrounds and places them into respectable work around the world.  A special programme has been set up in a place called Pokhara, about 200km from Kathmandu, where 20 Mövenpick sponsored students went through intensive training in English lessons and basic training for Housekeeping, F&B service, Kitchen and Bell Attendant jobs.  The students graduated in June’09 and they have been offered positions within the company’s hotels.  Currently, four of these students are undergoing their apprenticeship at the Mövenpick Reosrt Tala Bay Aqaba and they are doing a fine job.
